Damián Ucieda en conversa con Agar Ledo

In this encounter, the artist Damián Ucieda talks to Agar Ledo about his project Pobo afgano, trincheiras e campo de tiro. Salcedo (Afghan people, trenches and firing range. Salcedo), which documents and reflects on a territorial conflict in Galicia linked to the expansion of a military base in the village of Salcedo.

The work is based on how local communities opposed to the installation of an urban military base designed to train in urban combat, symbolically linked to the war in Afghanistan. Ucieda addresses the ecological, social and ethical consequences of militarisation in the territory, and illustrates the locals' struggle to recover their land.

A conversation about art, memory and activism that invites us to think about forms of resistance to structural violence and contemporary geopolitical conflicts.
