ABOUT US

The Pontevedra Art Biennial is an event organised by the Deputación de Pontevedra (Provincial Council of Pontevedra), particularly by the Museum of Pontevedra, since 1991.

The Museum, founded in 1927 as an initiative of the Provincial Council, is a renowned cultural institution both for its research work and for the relevance and heterogeneity of its painting, sculpture, photography, furniture, pottery, archaeology, ethnography, documentary and bibliographic collections. It currently has six buildings located in Pontevedra's old town.

Through the biennial, the values of the Museum of Pontevedra in contemporary art are promoted, developed and disseminated, thus establishing an enriching dialogue with one of the museums that boasts one of the vastest collections in Spain. They both encourage us to reflect on history and contemporaneity in a permanent way, creating unexpected and enriching synergies. The Museum buildings are among the main exhibition spaces of the Biennial of Pontevedra.
