The Bedouin Visual Archive (2014)

This photographic project by Miki Kratsman is aimed at showing the rights violations of the Bedouin community living in the Negev-Naqab area and give voice to their silenced histories and claims on their land. Through photographs, maps and stories, Kratsman creates a visual archive aimed at revealing a silenced history, that of the Bedouins who lived in this region before establishing the State of Israel in 1948. Even though they are formally Israeli citizens, the Bedouin communities living in the Negev-Naqab have had a long and complex relationship with the region. They are part of the broader Palestinian Arab minority who stayed within the Green Line Israel after 1948, and are still subject to harassment, forced relocation and land expropriation policies, particularly those villages not recognised by the State.
