Bienal de Pontevedra

At the Pontevedra Biennial, Yasmeen Abdullah explores universal themes such as human connection, love and truth, establishing a dialogue between past and present, between historical and contemporary influences. Abdullah researches our capacity to empathise, resist and find resilience, focusing on hope, empathy and altruism as the fundamental drivers of human experience. Her proposal includes three paintings, Light Keepers (2025), Layers of the Truth (Think of Others), from 2025, and Code to Survival (Love), from 2025. In Light Keepers, the artist addresses the figure of the 'guardian', an individual or community that becomes a beacon of hope in times of crisis, and highlights resilience and compassion as key elements for a more caring society.
