Works
Çetelastik (2021)
This is an interactive installation where visitors are invited to shoot paintballs at a tank. This work recalls Zehra Doğan's childhood in northern Kurdistan, when she used to throw stones at the armoured vehicles of the Turkish army. The apparently harmless action becomes an act of symbolic resistance. Through this gesture, Doğan reflects on the limits of violence and the power of small acts of resistance against the military machine. The piece raises a critique of the militarised world we are living in and invites us to reflect on the alternatives to armed combat and on the human condition in a system perpetuating violence.
