The work of photographer Gabriel Tizón (1973, Ferrol, Spain) has been consolidated in the field of photojournalism, in which keeping a critical eye and the will to unravel the prevailing social realities are essential. Raised in a family of painters, since he was a child he has been interested in photography as a way to capture reality from a perspective committed to the most unknown realities of the contemporary world. He has worked in more than thirty countries and has held exhibitions in places such as the United States, France, Italy and Guinea-Bissau. However, he has focused on populations affected by armed conflicts and forced migration, as well as on the consequences of wars and the power structures that perpetuate inequalities. Besides his photographic work, Tizón has launched social projects, such as the NGO Causas Comúns and 'Utopia Project', which are designed to improve living conditions in impoverished communities, especially in Africa and in European border regions.
