Priscilla Dobler Dzul

Priscilla Dobler Dzul (1985, Mérida, Yucatán, México) is considered a storyteller. Her work addresses issues like the recovery of tradition, the preservation of identity in a globalised world, the exploitation of marginalised communities and the reimagination of myths and indigenous stories. Her research also explores power dynamics, colonial relations and the tensions between what is human and non-human, represented in her work by the relation among hybrid animals, human figures and plants, a coexistence that goes beyond the binarism that has characterised Western thought for centuries. The artist proposes a post-human society where life forms and genders intertwine, offering oneiric and sensual visions that are perceived as a space of beauty and darkness. In her work, brutality, violence, death and disturbing transformations coexist with the possibility of hope and resistance.
