Paloma Navares

Paloma Navares (1947, Burgos, Spain) is one of the artists that has been a pioneer in reflecting on feminism and gender perspective in contemporary art. The use of new technologies, the manipulation of space, light and the integration of different techniques characterise her work. Her early audiovisual pieces, linked to performance and dance, already show her interest in exploring the interaction between media, a hybrid language, merging industrial techniques and materials with different media. In her installations, sculptures, objects and collages, she combines photography, video, sound and light, generating a visual and sensory experience that invites us to reflect on the issues she addresses. Her projects deal with social issues and explore in depth women's world, their rituals, customs and traditions, always with a critical and feminist approach.
