Manuel Vilariño (1952, A Coruña, Spain) works mainly with photography, poetry and installation. In his images, he mixes natural and cultural elements, including the religious and the profane, the sacred and the prohibited. His compositions are simple and austere; they contain still lifes, influenced by baroque painting and oriental culture, as well as portraits and landscapes. In his work, Vilariño reflects a deep appreciation of nature and deals with themes such as spirituality, loneliness, the passage of time and the relationship between life and death.
