Antoni Muntadas (1942, Barcelona, Spain) is one of the most relevant artists of conceptual art in Spain; among the most characteristic aspects of his work is the use of media content. His creation focuses on analysing the role of the media in constructing discourses, in manipulating information and in how established powers control what we see and believe. Through his works, Muntadas questions social institutions and the power mechanisms that support them. At the same time, he explores the influence of the media in creating the collective imaginary. His researches focus on issues such as censorship, the boundaries between the public and the private, and the role of art in contemporary society. A critical approach is needed to fully understand his installations.
