Bienal de Pontevedra

Anna Hulačová (1984, Sušice, Czech Republic) is a sculptor educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her work lies somewhere between science fiction and local folklore, since it revives traditional crafts through contemporary art. Inspired by ancient mythologies, Eastern cultures, Czech folk traditions and Christian symbolism, Hulačová creates figurative sculptures combining ancient idols and Gothic statues with graphic design elements and minimalist photography. Her work, which explores several traditional sculptural techniques, creates a unique artistic language, characterised by its formal richness, symbolism and connections with the past.
