Almudena Fernández Fariña (1970, Vigo, Spain) addresses painting from an open perspective, intertwined with the spaces that contain it, not only aesthetically, but also from a social and anthropological point of view. Her work is characterised by a constant search for new limits, combining different techniques and exploring the relationship between painting, photography, assemblage and found objects. This interdisciplinarity allows her to question the conventional hierarchies of artistic processes, while underlining her interest in the ornamental. The repetition and accumulation of patterns, motifs and symbols in her work, which are often organised around writing and sewing, refer to the domestic sphere and to a more intimate and laborious vision of creation.
