Pazo provincial

Pazo provincial

Montero Ríos Avenue, n/n. Pontevedra

On the façade of one of the most representative buildings in the town is a piece by the renowned artist Hans Haacke, whose work invites us to reflect on power mechanisms, politics and society.

Built in the 18th century, the Pazo Provincial is an outstanding example of Galician Baroque architecture and an emblem of the political and administrative history of the province of Pontevedra. Its imposing façade and its interior, steeped in history, have witnessed key moments in the evolution of the Galician region.

Haacke's work, which will be integrated into this monument, establishes a deep dialogue between contemporary art and historical heritage, and brings critical reflection on power and society to an institutional space of great symbolism. This intervention reinforces the commitment of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra (Deputación de Pontevedra) to contemporary culture and underlines the Biennial's vocation to connect art with public space and its citizens in order to build a bridge between tradition and artistic innovation.
