Observatorios/nunha paisaxe cun tiro na nuca (Observatories/in a landscape with a shot in the nape, 2025)
Christian Villamide's installation consists of three structures imitating an observatory. These are arranged in the exhibition space in such a way that visitors can walk around and enter each of them. Through the strategically placed lattice walls and openings, viewers can spy and observe the scene, contemplating other individuals and their reactions. The work provides an introspective gaze, like a reflection of ourselves from the other side of the mirror. With this piece, Villamide reflects on the hyper-surveillance typical of our current technological society, where we are constantly observing and being observed. The work highlights how, in our daily lives, we control our environment and other people, and how our direct and indirect actions affect our world. Observatorios invites us to question the power relation we have with our environment and to face the consequences of this constant control.
