Christian Villamide

Christian Villamide will talk with the curatorial assistant Agar Ledo about his work Observatorios/nunha paisaxe cun tiro na nuca (Observatories/in a landscape with a shot in the nape, 2025), presented at the 32nd Pontevedra Biennial.

The installation – consisting of three structures imitating an observatory – directly interacts with those who walk through it, and is an immersive experience about surveillance, control and the fragility of intimacy. Through lattice walls and strategic openings, Villamide builds a space in which looking and being looked at becomes a shared and, at the same time, disturbing experience.

In dialogue with Agar Ledo, the artist will explore the meanings and tensions of this work in the context of a society marked by technological hypervigilance and the silent domination of the environment. They will also address the intersections between art, ephemeral architecture, perception and body politics.
