Marina Núñez (1966, Palencia, Spain) uses a wide variety of media, from painting to video and digital technologies, to explore issues like identity, madness, science fiction and monstrosity. Throughout her career, she has always been interested in feminism and created a universe revisiting the role women have played in history, especially through references to the history of art, in particular to the Baroque style. Her work also challenges traditional canons and focuses on themes such as cybernetic bodies, the cyborg and the identities that go beyond the gender binary, by merging humans with machines.
At the Pontevedra Art Biennial, Marina Núñez presents a series of works that reflect on the symbolism of flowers and explore their ability to change and resist. Her proposal combines the beauty of nature with human intervention and invites us to think about vulnerability and heroism.
