Fritzia Irizar

Fritzia Irizar (1977, Culiacán, Mexico) questions the social structures that sustain the hierarchies and values around us. In her works, she explores how everyday objects acquire new meanings when they are incorporated into the art world, when moved from a common context to an artistic one. Irizar plays with the idea that, when transformed, objects not only change physically, but also modify their cultural, emotional and economic value. In this way, the artist invites us to reflect on how history, science and other stories, presented as absolute truths, are in fact fictions created by a few.
