Artists
Federico Solmi (1973, Bologna, Italy) is a New York-based artist whose work examines human impulses and Western society's obsession with individual success. His work addresses themes such as nationalism, colonialism, religion and consumerism, and reflects on the power structures that shape our contemporary world. Solmi reinterprets the historical accounts of American society, questioning its mythologies and their effects on today's culture. His work is characterised by an aesthetic using colour and satire to create a dystopian reality where leaders are represented as puppets, manipulated not by strings, but by digital technology. With this approach, the artist encourages us to reflect on the contradictions of politics and consumerism, creating a direct connection with the viewer.
