Aboubacar Traoré (1982, Kadiolo, Mali) was born in the south of Mali, near the border with the Ivory Coast. His childhood was characterised by deprivation, which allowed him to discover photography as a form of expression and protest. His interest in photography began with the tradition of taking a picture of himself every year during the Tabaski Festival, which led him to explore this discipline in depth. Today, photography has become a tool to raise awareness of inequality and the everyday difficulties of his community. His work captures the reality of Malian society, addressing issues such as the work of street sellers, urban transport, artisanal fishing, gold mining and religious conflicts. Through his images, Traoré provides a critical and creative insight into his environment, seeking to tell the complexities of his country.
