Leonor Leal: El lenguaje de las líneas

Main Theatre, Pontevedra
Leonor Leal

Danced talk. Running time: 60 min.

Leonor Leal is a contemporary dancer and creator that has chosen to inhabit the theatre using an innovative and different point of view. El lenguaje de las líneas (The language of the lines) is presented as a danced talk. This emerging creator, who moves in the new flamenco territory, wants to share her concerns about the lack of written texts on flamenco. It will certainly not be a conference where she is sitting in front of a microphone giving a speech, but a match between body and word.

Leonor Leal (Jerez de la Frontera, Spain) is a unique and versatile flamenco dancer with a solid training. She holds a Degree in Classical Ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance in the United Kingdom and in Classical and Spanish Dance from the Conservatory of Dance of Seville. She has won several awards for her solo works as a performer and creator of choreographies and shows, such as the Outstanding Dancer Award at the Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Contest (Madrid, 2008), the Best New Artist Award at the Jerez Festival (2011) for eLe eLe as well as two nominations for the Max Awards as Best Female Dance Performer and Best Dance Show for Nocturno (Nocturnal). Her works have been exhibited in the main European and American flamenco shows, such as the biennials of Seville and Holland or the festivals of Jerez, Düsseldorf, Esch-Luxembourg, Nîmes, Mont de Marsan, Toulouse, London and New York.
