Beatriz Ruibal

Unfortunately, we are forced to cancel the conversation with Beatriz Ruibal because the artist is having difficulties finding transportation to Pontevedra.

Beatriz Ruibal will talk with Antón Castro about her intervention La piel del olivo (The olive tree skin, 2024-2025), in which a glass cube of the building Pazo da Cultura is covered with an enlarged image of an olive leaf.

Through this installation, Ruibal turns the photographic language into a spatial experience, transforming the building into a vegetal, porous and hospitable body. The olive tree – a Mediterranean symbol of resistance, memory and regeneration – here becomes a metaphor for life in the face of deterioration, an invitation to rethink our ways of inhabiting and interacting with the environment in a context of eco-social crisis.

In this session, the artist will speak about the conceptual and technical process behind the work and reflect on the connections between nature, architecture, and memory – a chance to explore her critical and poetic perspective on the common, the vegetal and the constructed.
