Conversation with Beatriz Ruibal
Beatriz Ruibal will talk about her intervention La piel del olivo (The olive tree skin, 2024–2025), in which a glass cube of the building Pazo da Cultura is covered with an enlarged image of an olive leaf.
Through this installation, Ruibal turns the photographic language into a spatial experience, transforming the building into a vegetal, porous and hospitable body. The olive tree – a Mediterranean symbol of resistance, memory and regeneration – here becomes a metaphor for life in the face of deterioration, an invitation to rethink our ways of inhabiting and interacting with the environment in a context of eco-social crisis.
In this session, the artist will speak about the conceptual and technical process behind the work and reflect on the connections between nature, architecture, and memory – a chance to explore her critical and poetic perspective on the common, the vegetal and the constructed.
