Casa da Luz
Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 9 pm
Sundays and public holidays, from 11 am to 2 pm
Located in A Verdura Square, Casa da Luz is a historic building in the town of Pontevedra dating from 1595. Over the years, it has been used for different purposes – from slaughterhouse and market to courthouse and police station – and in 1888 it housed the first power station in Galicia. Renovated in 2010, today it is the headquarters of the Pontevedra Town Council's Tourism Department and a cultural space. Its façade has a piece by the renowned artist Emily Jacir, whose work, charged with meanings about migration, identity and memory, invites us to reflect on highly relevant worldwide issues.
