Café Moderno Afundación Pontevedra
Praza San Xosé, 3
The Café Moderno used to host the literary circles of prominent Galician figures such as Castelao, Bóveda or Cabanillas, which belonged to the regionalist political movement known as ‘galeguismo’ (Galicianism). Today it still exists as a café and a cultural space, with paintings by 20th-century Galician artists and original details that preserve its essence. The latest refurbishment, designed by the architect Álvaro Siza, respected this unique character while giving the building a new life without erasing its memory.
