Emily Jacir
The work of Emily Jacir (1972, Bethlehem, Palestine) addresses, among other issues, migration, resistance and historical memory, especially in the Palestinian context. Through media such as photography, video, performance and installation, Jacir deals with matters related to colonialism and Palestinian identity. Her work seeks to give voice to silenced stories and to make visible the consequences of Israeli occupation and exile. Besides her artistic work, Jacir is deeply committed to education. She is co-founder and director of the centre Dar Yusuf Nasri Jacir for Art and Research in Bethlehem, a space dedicated to the production of knowledge about Palestinian art and history.
